Redeem a gift card, package, or membership at checkout

Pay a sale with a gift card code, a prepaid package session, membership credit, or a membership balance — and see what each can't cover.

Updated Aug 14, 2026

Stored value shows up as tenders on the payment step: Gift card, Package, Membership, and Membership balance. Pick one like any other payment method — Owneli shows what it covers and leaves any remainder on the sale for the next tender.

Which stored-value tender do I use?

TenderWhat it spendsAppears when
Gift cardThe balance on a card, by codeAlways offered — except on a sale that sells a gift card
PackageA prepaid session from a client packageThe client has an active package covering a service or product on this sale
MembershipAn included session from a service-credit membershipThe client's membership includes a matching service
Membership balanceDollars in an account-balance membership walletThe wallet has funds

Package, membership and membership-balance tenders need a client attached — that's whose entitlements they are.

Redeem a gift card

Choose Gift card

On the payment step, pick Gift card.

Enter the code

Type the 12-character code into Gift card code (dashes optional). The balance appears with either a Covers it badge or the Still owed amount.

Charge it

The card is applied up to its balance. Anything left stays on the sale — collect it with the next method.

Common refusals, straight from the till: card not found, card expired or inactive, not valid at this location, or "Gift card only has $X — apply that and split the rest."

A sale that sells a gift card can't be paid with one — redeeming one card to buy another would move balance with no audit trail, so the tender disappears from the list.

Redeem a package or membership session

Pick the Package or Membership tender; if the client has more than one eligible benefit, a picker shows which service each covers. The redemption covers the matching service line — the priciest eligible one first — and debits a session from the client's balance. The tile shows sessions remaining, e.g. "3 sessions left".

Buying a package and its first session in the same sale? The cart offers to cover the eligible service on the spot — accept and the line shows a Package benefit · $0 pill.

Tips ride separately

Package, membership and membership-balance are credit tenders: they cover the bill, never the gratuity. A tip on a fully-redeemed visit stays as its own line and is settled by a following card or cash tender — so a package client can still tip. See Tips and tip splits.

On the receipt

Each redemption prints as a payment row — Gift card (with Gift card balance remaining), Package, Membership, or Membership balance — so the client sees exactly what was drawn from where.

Common questions

The gift card doesn't cover the whole sale — what now?

Apply it anyway. The card's full balance comes off, the rest stays owing, and you pick the next tender immediately. See splitting a sale.

Why isn't the Package tender showing?

Either no client is attached, the package isn't active (expired or used up), nothing on the sale matches what the package covers, or the package isn't valid at this location.

Can a client use someone else's package or membership?

No — entitlements belong to the client on the sale, and the till refuses a package or membership that belongs to a different client. Gift cards, by contrast, are bearer instruments: whoever has the code can spend it.

What happens to a redeemed session if the sale is refunded?

Refunding the payment returns the session or credit to the client. See Refunds and the cash drawer.
