Set up online booking

Turn on the public booking page, control notice and buffers, and get your venue links onto your website and socials.

Updated Sep 1, 2026

Online booking gives you a guest-facing page at a public URL. Clients pick a service, a time and a provider without creating an account.

Before it will work

Turning the toggle on is not enough. Public booking needs a location, at least one service, and staff working hours. Without all three the page has nothing to offer and bookings can't complete.

The setup checklist on Today only marks public booking as done once all three exist.

Turn it on

Settings → Booking, on the Online booking tab

Accept bookings from the public link is the master switch. When it's on, anyone with the link can book. When it's off, the page returns a 404 rather than a "we're closed" message — the URL simply doesn't exist publicly.

The booking rules

SettingWhat it controls
Minimum noticeHow soon before a slot a client can still book it. Stops someone booking the 9:00 at 8:57.
Booking windowHow far into the future clients can book
Time slot intervalThe spacing between offered start times — 15, 30 minutes, and so on
Cancellation cutoffGuests cannot cancel or reschedule online within this window
Buffer beforePrep and setup time held before each appointment
Buffer afterCleanup and turnover time held after

Buffers are held on the calendar, so back-to-back online bookings don't leave you with no room to reset.

The cancellation cutoff and your cancellation fee window are two different settings. The cutoff decides whether the client can cancel online at all; the fee window decides whether a cancellation is charged. Setting the cutoff shorter than the fee window means clients can cancel themselves into a fee — which may be exactly what you want, as long as it's deliberate.

Per-location overrides

Each location can override the business defaults, so a quieter site can accept later bookings than your busiest one.

The venue page

Each location gets its own public profile — a branded landing page with your services, hours, address, and reviews — plus a booking link.

From Settings → Locations, each location can be:

  • Listed — publicly visible and bookable
  • Unlisted — not publicly reachable

Publishing runs a checklist first and tells you what's missing if it can't publish.

Use Copy booking link and Copy profile link to get the URLs for your website, Google Business Profile, and social bios.

Which services appear

A service is offered online only if it's marked as online-bookable on its Booking tab, and enabled for that location in the service matrix. The services list has an Online-bookable only filter so you can check what a client will actually see.

Payment terms at booking

If your payment policy requires a card or a deposit, the terms are shown to the guest before they confirm — what's due, the free-cancellation window, and the fee amounts. That copy is generated from your settings; you don't maintain it. See Deposits, cancellation and no-show fees.

What a guest can do after booking

The confirmation carries a link that lets them view, reschedule or cancel without signing in — subject to your cancellation cutoff.

Embedding on your own site

The booking flow can be embedded in an iframe on your own website, so clients book without leaving your domain.

Beyond appointments

The public venue pages can also sell, if you enable them: gift cards, memberships, packages, group bookings, and a retail shop with checkout. Storefront features are configured under Settings → Store.

Online orders placed through the shop land in a fulfilment queue at POS → Online orders, where staff move them through Ready, Shipped and Completed.

Reporting

  • Growth → Reports → Online — bookings taken through the public flow
  • Growth → Reports → Booking funnel — where guests drop out
  • Growth → Reports → Cart abandonment — started and unfinished purchases
  • Growth → Reports → Channel rollup — online against every other channel
