FOR CANADIAN BUSINESSES
Owneli for salons, spas and clinics in Canada.
Owneli works for appointment businesses in many countries, each in its own currency, time zone and language. For a business in Canada that means its province’s sales tax from the start, prices in Canadian dollars, the team and clients served in English or French, and a clear statement of where data lives.

GST, HST, PST and QST
In British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, services start on GST alone, since personal services there usually carry no PST; products start on the full rate. Check your own rules: Owneli charges what you set.
Canadian sales tax
A new Canadian business starts with its province’s sales tax: HST, GST plus PST, GST plus QST in Quebec, or GST alone. Each part shows on its own line on receipts and in reports, and every rate stays editable.

Questions
Does Owneli charge GST and QST in Quebec?
Yes. A new business in Quebec starts with a GST plus QST rate (5% and 9.975%), and each tax shows on its own line on receipts and in reports. You can edit or replace the rate.
Is Owneli available in French?
Yes. The app, the booking pages and client emails and texts are available in French, as well as English and Spanish. Each team member and each client can have their own language.
Are prices in Canadian dollars?
Yes. A Canadian business is set up in Canadian dollars, and prices, receipts and reports all use the currency set for the business.
Is client data stored in Canada?
No. Owneli’s database and file storage are in the United States, in Amazon Web Services’ northern Virginia region. The privacy policy explains what that means for Canadian clients.
Does Owneli help with CASL consent?
It records it. Each client has a separate yes or no for marketing emails and texts, with the date it was recorded; every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and a texted STOP is honoured. Having the consent the law requires remains the business’s responsibility.
